RentWeave vs Rentman

Rentman is a well-regarded system built around equipment and crew for event production. RentWeave is built around a narrower loop: stock leaves, comes back in a condition somebody records, and has to be ready before the next booking wants it.

The short answer

Choose RentWeave if the hard parts are availability across overlapping weekends and what comes back broken. Choose Rentman if crew qualifications, hours and pay are as central to the job as the equipment.

Which one should you pick?

Your business is party and event rental — seating, tables, linen, marquees, decor — and the hard parts are availability across overlapping weekends and what comes back broken.

Choose RentWeave if

  • Turnaround days between bookings decide what you can promise
  • Damaged and missing stock should come off availability by itself
  • Rostering should refuse one person in two places, without becoming payroll
  • The floor ticks off a run sheet on the day

Choose Rentman if

  • You schedule crew by what they are qualified to do
  • Hours and pay rates need tracking alongside the shifts
  • Staffing is as big a part of the job as the equipment

What RentWeave does differently

Built around the return.

Stock leaves, comes back in a condition somebody records, and has to be ready before the next booking wants it. Everything here follows from that.

  1. Availability that knows about the wash

Every item carries its own prep and cleaning days, and availability subtracts them. Linen collected on Sunday with two days of turnaround is not offered for Monday just because the booking technically ended. The number you quote from is the number you can actually load.

  2. A check-in that has to reconcile

Returning stock is the only moment the truth about your inventory changes, so it is a full workflow rather than an edit screen. You record what came back, what came back broken and what did not come back, and the three reconcile against what went out. Count forty-two against forty and it says so, because somebody has counted a pile twice.

  3. Damaged and missing are separate pools

Damaged stock is here and out of service. Missing stock is unaccounted for and often turns up in the wrong crate at the next event. Both come off availability, both stay on the record, and neither is a note in a comment field — so “how many do I own” and “how many can I promise in June” stay two answerable questions.

  4. The floor observes, the office decides

Roles are assembled from individual permissions rather than picked from a list of three. Warehouse staff can move units between pools, fix a storage position and submit a stock count without ever being able to change what the company owns — and cost prices are visible only to the roles you hand that permission to.

In fairness

Where Rentman is the better answer

If crew scheduling and staffing are as central to your operation as the equipment — tracking qualifications, hours and pay rates — Rentman does that properly and we do not. Our rostering answers a narrower question: who is working this job, and is anybody already committed elsewhere. A shift carries a free-text role and nothing about what somebody is certified to do or what they are owed for it.

What comes across

  • Your stock list, with the quantities you actually own
  • Customers, their contacts and their addresses
  • Bookings still ahead of you, with their dates and lines
  • Your rental rates, so the next quote prices itself

What stays behind

Crew qualifications, hours and pay rates have nowhere to go here. Your people come across with their roles; what they are certified for and owed stays in your payroll system.

Moving from Rentman: questions

Do you do crew planning?

Yes, and we are specific about which part. Run sheets are live — what happens on the day, who is doing it, and whether it is done, on a day board the floor can tick off. Rostering is live too, and it refuses to put one person in two places at once: an event roster, a dispatch run and booked leave are checked against each other in both directions, and somebody holding the override grant can proceed anyway by name. What it does not carry is qualifications, hours or pay rates.

What does the dispatch side cover?

A delivery or collection gets a vehicle or a hired-in supplier, a crew, and a time. Scheduling a delivery creates the collection run at the same moment, so a due-back date is never quietly forgotten, and the day board shows what is going out, what is coming back and what is overdue.

Is there a free tier?

No. There are 14 days of the whole product with no card required, and then three paid plans. We would rather be honest about that up front than run a free tier that quietly stops being usable at the point you depend on it.

Try it against your own stock.

Load one category and one real booking. That is enough to tell whether it fits, and the trial gives you 14 days to find out.

  • No card needed
  • Nothing charged when the trial ends
  • Read-only, never deleted
